First off, yes, this is about Sv_pure, if you don't know what it is, then get out, we don't need you here.
Now, to the info...
Currently, sv_pure defaults to 1 with a standard whitelist that blocks everything except models, player skins, and sprays.
This is, to my eyes, is completely useless, as it just turns legitimate custom content into messy fucking scratches and wireframes.
First, we need to consider the role of sv_pure. Obviously, and primarily, it prevents material hacks and what not. That's pretty goody and all, but, there's a little problem:
The default sv_pure 1 whitelist, with some tweaking, will not prevent wallhacking, as well as many others, like speedhacking
If I had a skin that allowed me to see playermodels through walls, sv_pure 1 would not block it with tweaks in it's whitelist. In fact, with a few tweaks here and there with some programs, you can easily get, guess what? More hacks onto the server with sv_pure 1 on it. Hell, I've seen an increase in hackers since the update came out. Before the update, I've only seen about two hackers. With the new update? Ten to about fifteen, and these servers have VAC on them, as well. So, just by this update, they're bringing a challenge to the players who hack, seeing who can get past it, and become awesome. The point? If hackers didn't feel challenged to get passed it, they would decrease in numbers. Get what I'm saying? Good.
"But, but, but, what about sv_pure 2 XD LOL." While that would stop hacking in a great amount of numbers, that just restricts players to using the games models and sprays. Before you post a faggy comment, Captain Obvious, let me tell you this. I use custom skins, as well as sprays to get some lulz out, as well as have some badass ones as well. I usually got on Counter Strike to relieve anger, and really, without custom models, it just fucking increased. So, obviously, I'm leaning on being more open with custom content rather than restrict someone to the games old fucking models that we've seen for about three years. The point? The game would become MORE ACTIVE with custom content, for most people playing the game. So, basically, here's a TL;DR chart for you if you were so much of a monkey fagnut to not read through this.
-The default sv_pure behavior is fucking retarded, and just attracts more hackers.
-sv_pure 0 is cool and should be the default, as it would decrease the hackers, and give us more players playing that game.
--sv_pure 2 would also be reasonable, but it's still fucking retarded, as well as just seeing the same fucking models over and over again, besides, it, again, would challenge hackers even more to get through, increasing hackers in the limits.
