This is just a thought, and mere concidence. I want to share it.
I was watching paranormal-related a bit earlier and they mentioned Clinton Road in NJ, so I looked it up on Wikipedia and after reading it, went to another page about Shades of Death Road
There is a one-way, dead end street that isn't paved, and according to Wikipedia:
"Legend also has it that sometimes nocturnal visitors to Lenape see an orb of white light appear near the end of the road which chases vehicles back out to Shades Of Death. If it turns red in the process, those who see it will die."
The last two sentences...just struck out at me and made me think of TD. I guess it's just...paranoia or something, but I found it odd.
I really doubt there is a white orb, as I went to a unpaved site about a ghost traveling on powerlines and it wasn't real.

Sounds like paranoia like you suggested, anything can shine a red light and kill you. I could do that if I had a red light and a gun.

Eh... TD is a possible explanation... But it may be more... I believe in many things (not God...) and this may be some sort of spirit/higher being or some sort off dimension shift, or nothing at all... But it has a major contradiction...
"If it turns red in the process, those who see it will die." If they are dead, how can we know that they saw an orb/light?

Well its a legend, meaning a story, meaning it can be made up, meaning this makes no sence, meaning OBJECTION!

Yeah, I mean, Clinton Road has a so-called Phantom Pickup Truck that chases you down all 10 miles. Someone could just be waiting on the road to do that.
And your mind makes things you want to believe in. If you hear something, such as that and then go do it, then your mind makes you think you seen it \: I have had it happen to me.

However, have you ever heard the story of the ghost in the top floor of the Mackinaw Island Grand Hotel? I stayed at that hotel once, and the story is true. I saw her with my own eyes, even though neither my mother nor father saw her. The tour guide saw her too. She was a very young girl, no more than five years old in appearance, and she was very shy, since when she finally saw us, she disappeared. Still, I doubt the white light at the end of a one way dead end is a true story.
