Well, this has nothing to do with TD's ACTUAL existence. Only his existence in the games and a small review of TD. I tried to keep the bio part as unbiased as possible.
Here we go!
CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Tails Doll
Nicknames: N/A
Inventory classification: Liberated plush doppelganger of Miles "Tails" Prower. Tails Doll is the 6th innovation involving the creation of a robotic duplicate of a living being, and has an unknown inventory identification number.
Gender: N/A, robot — has the shape and mannerisms of a male, not to mention is based off of one.
Age: Unknown; was created at the time of the World Grand Prix, but wasn't destroyed. The Tails Doll model is currently in storage and its usefulness discontinued.
Date of birth: Unknown
Birthplace: Unknown, probably inside one of the many bases constructed by Dr. Eggman.
Height: Unknown
(Speculation: Even though it's safe to assume that since Sonic & Metal Sonic are of the same height, Tails Doll's would be the same as his organic counterpart's. But to double check, I booted up Sonic R to try to match them both and the results are the same. So it's quite probable that Tails Doll's height is the same as Tails', and since neither of their heights were offered in those days, it makes it even easier to guess that Tails Doll's height is 80 centimeters [2'6"].)
Weight: Unknown
(Speculation: Even though Tails Doll may be the same height as Tails, there is no way it can be the same weight since, well, it's a doll. A good proposal for Tails Doll's dry weight would be anywhere between 2 to 4 kilograms [4 to 8 lbs.].)
Physical techniques: N/A
Aptitude statistics:
(1). Tails Doll wasn't made with a lot of abilities. Its movement is powered by the mysterious red gem on its head. This gem enables Tails Doll to hover over the ground or even water and perform very wobbly and unpredictable ascents and descents at a high speed.
Hardware specs: Unknown
Weaknesses: No known weaknesses.
Physical Appearance:
- Apparent cotton construction; the primary color of which is an orange yellow
- White muzzle
- Large beady black eyes
- Two slabs of fabric over the forehead to serve as imitations of Tails' bangs
- Large white ears
- Large zippers on the back of the head and on the back of the body
- Large and bulbous black nose
- Metal rod coming out of the top of its head leading to a mysterious red gem that seems to control Tails Doll's movement
- Circular patch of white fabric on its chest/belly to imitate Tails' chest fur
- White circular objects to serve as imitations of Tails' gloves
- Red fabric shoes with a white stripe going around them
- White fabric socks
- Two large, white-tipped tails
- White stitching is visible on many parts of Tails Doll' such as on the gloves, tail, the white chest patch, ears, shoes, etc., etc.
Items & weapons: N/A
Vehicle(s): N/A
Personality details: Tails Doll is definitely a weird one. It obviously has no personality what so ever. It's just a plush doll that can hover because of the gem on its head. Unlike all of Eggman's other robots, Tails Doll can't even be programmed with motives or set emotions. It has no personality. But that fact alone, combined with its appearance that always makes it look like some possessed marionette, brings Tails Doll over to the eerie side. Even if it is just a doll, I wouldn't want to run into it.
Historical biography:
Tails Doll came about at the same time and for the same reason as Metal Knuckles: to be a diversion for Sonic on the Radical City track in the World Grand Prix so Eggman could get his hands on the Chaos Emeralds. Eggman knew that the Chaos Emeralds were scattered among the tracks, but instead of trying to go for them directly, he made some new robots to do the dirty work. Tails Doll was made for the Radical City track, but in the end, Eggman and Tails Doll's attempts were ultimately futile judging by how Sonic managed to collect the emeralds himself and win the Grand Prix. Tails Doll's usefulness apparently ended there.
Personal information:
Greatest friend(s): It's a freakin' doll: do the math. You can still program a robot with who to favor and not to favor. But a doll is a doll.
Other friend(s): N/A
Rival(s): Nevertheless, it was made to rival Miles "Tails" Prower in some way, so there you go.
Enemy(s): See Greatest friends(s).
Likes: Unknown.
Dislikes: Unknown.
Favorite food(s): Can't eat.
Favorite color(s): Unknown.
Occupation: Minion of the Eggman Empire.
Place of residence: Unknown — is probably kept in storage in one of the
many bases constructed by Dr. Robotnik.
GAME INFORMATION
Franchise name: Tails Doll.
Original purpose: Antagonist role in Sonic R.
Current purpose: N/A, character is scrapped.
Date of first promotion/presence in the industry: Tails Doll's debut in the industry came along with the release of the Sega Saturn title, Sonic R, released first in the USA on November 11th of 1997.
Years in service: Not even a year: Tails Doll's first and last appearance was Sonic R, released in 1997.
Likelihood of a possible return: Very low. Tails Doll was probably just a filler character for Sonic R in the first place. And plus, well, it's a doll of Tails. Look, I really don't know what to say on this character for two reasons. One, Tails Doll is Tails Doll. And two, I am sick as a dog while I am writing this, so, like, just know that this guy more than likely isn't coming back. If you actually mourn over the fact that he won't, then you obviously have obscure priorities.
Original Designer: Unconfirmed. There is a very high chance… in fact, it probably IS Yuji Uekawa since he was the character designer for Sonic R.
Design process: Unconfirmed. Tails Doll's design process was probably similar to how all of the others were made. Many design sketches were made and Tails Doll was chosen. Simple as that.
Possible design inspirations: No known design inspirations (other than Tails).
Prestigious design variations: 1

*The picture at the top is for pure decoration. Although, it is completely faithful to Tails Doll's original appearance in general, it has been stylized to fit the new generation and is not how Tails Doll's original design appears.

Personal character analysis/commentary (by Scizor300):
Oookay. Tails Doll. Yeah. Just say it once, and then again after a prolonged pause. Tails Doll. Tails Doll is a plush duplicate of Tails that is known across the community as no more than being insanely creepy. (Especially with the curse.) Even I can't look at the thing without raising an eyebrow. Shivers run down my spine when I see it move with that creepy hover in Sonic R. I mean hey, they could've made Metal Tails to rise the cool factor a bit more. But no. Tails' artificial duplicate comes in the form of plush goodness. And that's pretty much as far as Tails Doll goes in this fanbase. If Yuji Uekawa designed this thing, he must've been drinking too much sake.
Tails Doll is, hands down, the most shallow playable Sonic character ever created. It doesn't even have any special abilities or attacks. There is no info on it, statistics, specs, etc., etc. Bean and Bark are like characters in a Clint Eastwood film compared to Tails Doll when it comes to depth and character development. So Tails Doll DOES get the reward for that. Otherwise, he was pretty much pointless, and so far doesn't seem to be all that missed. But even then, the idea behind Tails Doll is original. Tails is the cute fox boy, so maybe a badass metal doppelganger wouldn't fit his profile so well. Tails Doll works, but Sonic R wouldn't have been any better or worse if Tails Doll wasn't in it. So overall, yes, Tails Doll… another testament to the tragic history of scrapped Sonic characters.
