You see, I'm going to quote a really great youtuber here. Final bosses in video games has become somewhat of an art form.
I want all of you to name off, what you believe to be, the greatest final boss fight you have ever played.
...well, you can name your favourite normal boss fight as well.
FAVOURITE NORMAL BOSS
Fortitudo, from Bayonetta (X360/PS3)
This boss fight is absolutely epic. I know that word has gotten to be overused...but I believe it truly applies here.
When the battle starts off, you're either dodging lightning fast fireballs being lobbed at you, or dodging lunges so fast that it would rival that of a snake's lunge. Whenever you feel like it though, or if Fortitudo breaks the platform you were on, you fall to the ground. and the fight is taken to there.
Now, the ground is either going to be just flat concrete, or covered in lava, with a few rocks to walk along/jump on. At this point, Fortitudo still lobs fireballs at you, and still lunges at you, but he will occasionally jump up to the edge of the wall of the colleseum you two are fighting in, and fire a gigantic laser at the floor, causing it to explode, with rocks flying everywhere. THIS is where a quicktime event occurs.
You jump from rock to rock, kind of like in the opening of Sonic CD, then when you get to Fortitudo, you have to press (Triangle and Circle (PS3) or Y and B (360) To use a 'climax' attack. Bayonetta runs up the angelic beast, grabs it by one of its two throats, and throws it to the floor. Going up to grab its neck again, she begins to toss it around like a rag doll, until that head just tears right off. After that, you just repeat until the other head is gone as well.
Fortitudo's second form is...kind of odd. It's like a statue head made out of white marble...but upside down, and with wings.
At the beginning of the second form, Fortitudo fires another laser at the ground, which propells the entire colleseum thousands of feet into the sky. When the fight actually begins, you will find that you have 5 minutes to defeat Fortitudo, or...yanno...splat.
In this phase, Fortitudo will mainly try to ram you off of the walls, or send these tentacle-like things through the walls to attack you. In order to use the tentacle attack though, he needs to have direct contact with the wall. THIS is when you can run up to him and attack his weak point, the jewel on his forhead.
Once you get his health all the way down, get close to him, and get ready to use another climax attack. This one, i wont spoil for you, because it is just absolutely amazing.
OVERALL BOSS SCORE: 5/5
This is the kind of boss that makes you wonder "Why isn't this the FINAL boss?". If this WERE a final boss though, i'd probably only give it a 4 out of 5, but considering its a normal boss, it deserves it's 5.
GAMEPLAY: 5/5 (The controls for the game itself are very linear, but that doesnt stop this fight from playing great. You'd have to play it to see what i mean.)
ACTION: 5/5 (The fight takes place in an ancient collesseum, you're fighting a two headed angelic dragon, who then turns into a bird when you rip BOTH it's heads off, then you fight an angelic bird beast all while falling through the air. No shit this gets a 5)
STORY RELEVANCE: 2/5 (To be honest about this one, Fortitudo only really revealed something that HINTED towards her past, and that was when he died.)
DIFFICULTY: 4/5 (Believe me, unless you have a Red Hot Shot (Red Hot Shot = one auto-revive)with you, and a few healing items, you're going to be in for one tough fight.)

FAVOURITE FINAL BOSS
Raem, from Final Fantasy, Crystal Chronicles (GameCube)
Raem itself has two forms. The first form is linear, but what you have to go through to get to him isn't hard easy, it can be either...but its really, just odd.
Throughout the game, you will come across cutscenes. Being a Final Fantasy game, its to be expected...but a lot of them are short, and sometimes very helpful! Your character has a diary where he/she keeps ALL his/her memories...the amount of memories you have depends on how many cutscenes you have seen. Also, re-doing certain levels when the Myrrh tree is active again will count as getting another memory.
The memories are VERY important in both forms.
In the first form, Raem's sister, Mia will ask you 5 questions about your journey thus far. Answer them all right, and It's off to Raem you go! Get one wrong, and she sicks some monsters on you.
As i said before, the first form of Raem is, to my memory, pathetic. But the second form...that's when the shit is gonna hit the fan. At least on your first time, anyways.
You are teleported all the way to above the clouds, which to be honest, suddenly turns the Gamecube's graphical capabilities to that of the PS3. You can still walk around for a little bit, so take this time to get your inventory ready. When you begin to walk forward, Raem will fall down from the sky, and the fight will begin.
(The explanation of the fight will be explained once i can get to Raem again on FF:CC)
OVERALL FINAL BOSS SCORE: 4.5/5 (Tying up all the loose ends in the game, saving the world, and having a goddess finally put at peace...typical for a Final Fantasy game ending)
GAMEPLAY: 10/5 (I am not fucking around when I say the gameplay, not just in this fight, but in the whole GAME was just phenominal. To put it in perspective, imagine the fighting system of FF12, but mixed with Kingdom Hearts. And no, not Chain of Memories. To be honest, I REALLY hope that they bring this style back in the sequel of Crystal Chronicles, which i havent heard good things about, but hey, who really listens to video game reviewers anyways?
...waait... (D) )
Action: 4/5 (Well, you're fighting a god in the sky, and the god is VERY despirate, because he knows that he's got a huge chance of dying. Remind you of anyone? *coughkefkacough* )
ENDING: 3/5 (You know, I would put the ending higher up on the scale if it werent a Final Fantasy game. As I said in the overall, It's kind of typical for a Final Fantasy game to end this way. All in all though, it's still a good, enjoyable ending, although its as easily forseen as Dr. Wily being the bad guy in the classic Megaman games)
REPLAY VALUE 5/5 (Let me just say this. You can play this game INFINITELY if you want to. There are tons of artifacts for you to find, and the best part...you don't HAVE to go to the final boss, EVER. You can just go on your merry way, kicking major ass. Granted, this does get boring after a while, but i mean a LONG while.)
PLOT TWISTS: 4/5 (Iunno why I made this a category, but why not? All I can say without ruining the game, is that the two biggest twists happen with the con artist, and the Black Knight.)
So...yeah. What are your guys' favourite boss/final boss fights? :3
